A fascinating insight into Freddie Mercury’s life comes under the hammer this month with Sotheby’s exhibition and sale of some of Freddie’s personal belongings.
In amongst the items is Freddie’s Dinner Party Book. Leather bound with gold embossed title of his home 'Garden Lodge' and his initials, this gilt edged book beautifully shows a private life of elegant lunches and flamboyant dinners. Showing full details of personal celebrations including menus, wines, flowers and guests along with a seating plan and ‘gown and jewels worn’ is even recorded.
Interestingly guests signed the book beside their names in the seating plan. What a fascinating piece of history!
